Dayanara Torres Clairol's new brand ambassador

Clairol, the hair division of Procter & Gamble, has signed actress, model and former Miss Universe (1993), Dayanara Torres, as the new brand ambassador for Hydrience haircolor which has been in the market since 1996. Dayanara shot TV advertisements for Hydrience in December and they'll be aired in late March.

Dayanara Torres, 31, was the third Puerto Rican to win the Miss Universe title and at age 18 she became one of the youngest winners of the crown.

Dayanara Torres will be the ambassador for Clairol Hydrience through advertising, public relations and retail initiatives. Dayanara will appear in English and Spanish language advertisements which the company hopes will help them in penetrating the Hispanic market. According to reports Dayanara's contract with Hydrience is estimated to be worth $1.5 million a year and it will last until 2007.

Dayanara had earlier represented Procter & Gamble for Pantene in the Philippines and Vidal Sassoon in Latin America. Torres also is the model for Wal-Mart's new contemporary apparel line Metro 7, a deal inked last year.

Dayanara, a mother of two, recently moved to Los Angeles from Miami because she says West Coast is the right place for her budding acting career. She married singer Mark Anthony in 2000. They divorced in 2004. Dayanara is in the process of rebuilding her career in the areas of acting, modeling, endorsements and commercials and she has plenty of projects on hand.

Dayanara Torres, the beauty queen ex-wife of Marc Anthony, endured a rough landing after her latest flight from Los Angeles to New York, reports E!Online.

The former Miss Universe was rushed to a hospital March 1 upon landing at JFK International Airport. On Friday, she underwent three-hour surgery to remove scar tissue blocking her intestine.

A friend said she was in stable condition and would be ready to go home in about five days.

''She's in good spirits but a lot of pain,'' her friend said.
