It isn’t a rare thing these days for a producer to use their success as a beat smith to branch off into rapping. Of course the most notable example of late is Kanye West, with The Neptunes Pharrell Williams set to do his thing next month as well. They aren’t the only producers after the limelight though.
Dre of the Miami based production duo Cool & Dre is eyeing the release of his solo album this summer on Jive Records. Hit single Naomi has already torn up the airwaves and his latest Chevy Ridin’ High with Rick Ross is looking to do the same.
Cool & Dre have been responsible for a few huge hits in the hip-hop and r&b world in the past few years. Their credits include Hate it or Love it (The Game), New York (Ja Rule), and Say I (Christina Milian), and Take Me Home (Terror Squad). The duo is set to collaborate with a slew of high profile artists in the near future, including;
Snoop Dogg, Mos Def,
Whitney Houston, Shakira, Mary J. Blige, The Game, Mya, Pitbull, Christina Milian, Kelis, Lil E, Joe, Tyrese, and Chris Brown.
