THE EVENT
For the very first time, the 2003 Miss World Event is to be staged in Sanya, China. The event will be broadcast live from a purpose-built venue, to be named the Miss World Stadium and has been designed to resemble the crown of Miss World, when illuminated at night.
Over the next few months, leading-up to the event, we will be bringing you an up-date and images of the construction and preparation for Miss World 2003.
LOCATION
Located at the southern most tip of Hainan Island, the second largest island in China, Sanya, is an important political, economic, cultural and foreign trade port and also a famous coastal tourist city filled with tropical landscapes and local customs. Since Sanya is situated in the southernmost part of China, she has been called "the remotest cape of the earth" since ancient time.
With its typical oceanic tropical monsoon climate and an annual average temperature of 25.4 º, Never usually falling below 21º or rising above 28º (Celcius, daytime). Sanya is an ideal holiday destination.
On-line Voting
Following the success of the Miss World 2002 on-line voting, visitors to the site will once again have the chance to vote for the contestant of their choice during the run-up to the live event.
SMS Voting
Following the success of the Miss World 2002 SMS Global vote, visitors to the site and viewers of both the event pre-show and the live broadcast will once again have the chance to vote for the contestant of their choice via their mobile handset.
A comprehensive list of all contestants, the SMS voting number and the voting format will be published up to 4 weeks before the event, giving ample time to place the vote or votes of your choice.
