Rank outsider wins the Miss Venezuela 2005 contest, slotted for Miss World
The winner of Miss Venezuela 2005 is Miss Sucre.
According to the experts, Jictzad Vina was considered an outsider and pushed favorite, Miss East Coast Susan Carrizo into second place and a slot in the Miss World contest.
Another surprise was Miss Barinas Daniela Di Giacomo, at least according to some tabloid agony aunts.
Calle Ciega, Los Pelaos and Tecupae provided musical turns along with Voz Veis, Frank Quintero and the drums of Tambor Urbano.
The First Venezuelan to win the Miss World contest, Susana Duijm was the guest of honor at the pageant.
Franco de Vita's song on stage will be remembered because a fan broke the security ring to shout "I love you Anita and I want the world to know ... Hugo Chavez!"
A cool De Vita commented : something spontaneous! and continued singing.
Miss Venezuela organizer, Osmel Sousa has been confronting unfavorable press accusations of hand-picking candidates (and winners) and denying accusations that Venevision had taken over the contest. "I am Venevision, so how can I take over myself."
